Groups

All over the UK, groups of parents, teachers or schools workers meet on a regular basis to pray for their local schools. Some meet in homes, others meet in schools, or send prayer requests to each other by email. It’s easy to get started praying for schools – our guidelines give you advice on how to begin.

You can contact us to find out if there is already a group praying for a particular school. If you are already part of a group who is praying, or you want to start a group, please let us know. Our vision is to see every school prayed for, and there are many schools being prayed for that we don;t know about. If you register your group with us, you become part of a UK-wide movement, and we will send you resources and encouragement – as well as putting others who enquire about your school or area in touch with you.

If you are a schools worker, why not let us know which schools you are involved with. Then if individuals or groups contact us wanting to pray for these schools, we can put them in touch with you.

As God begins to answer your prayers for your local school, amazing things can happen!

“Over 5 or 6 years we have seen small and large answers to prayer: a large improvement in dealing with and reducing behaviour problems; a superb new headteacher who underpins all her actions with her Christian ideals; an improvement in staff relationships. These are some of the big answers but we have witnessed a steady outpouring from God on to the school – this has enabled us to be more ambitious in our prayers and to ask in faith. I would urge all who pray for schools to be encouraged and keep going – ours is a mighty God who cares about children.”

“Each year to celebrate the “birthday” of the prayer group, we have a supper in the school, when members of the group, which includes parents, staff and governors, invite a guest and we share a meal together. About 30 people attended the last one! This year we plan to have a buffet supper and open it up to the whole school. Many parents now approach the staff involved with the prayer group to ask for prayer eg if family members are sick. We also have a prayer box at school, where the children can write and post their own prayers.”

“I am 14 years old and have just been given, and read, the latest newsletter. It’s great – I didn’t know such a thing existed! I’m touched that people all over the nation are praying for kids like me in schools like mine! I set up a Prayer Group praying for issues in and around the school and the lives of all who go to the Prayer Group. It’s great!! I also lead a Bible Study group after school. You mentioned wanting encouragement for prayer for schools – so those are a few points!”
